Common predicament: You love fancy skirts, but have nowhere to wear them.

Simple Solution: Combine your fancier skirts with a casual shirt (and tie a knot on the outside for an added kick!).

Do I really need to add more to this post? Not really! I absolutely love this skirt- it is, without a doubt, a favorite of mine- not only for its color, but for its feminine fit and elegant body. The one downfall is that it is quite the skirt to wear to work on the regular. In order to make this full midi a bit more acceptable for my 9-5, I decided to play-it-down with a tied gingham shirt and flats.

The gingham print (which I love in darker prints as opposed to pastels) is quite casual, as is the cotton material. I decided to tie the top on the outside of this skirt with an exposed DIY bow, for added personality. Knots are great for accentuating the waist, as well!  Lastly, the multi-strap flats keep this look elongated (as they’re pointed-toe), yet don’t make the skirt too over-the-top, as heels would. I think a rounded flat would’ve been too preppy for me, so these were a great solution.

Combining your skirts with a graphic tee or button-down is simple ways to make them more day appropriate- I hope you try it out and let me know what you think! My next step will be a graphic tee with my sequin skirt! :)

PS: This look reminds me of Dorothy and The Wizard of Oz (a modern version!)… what do you think? Thanks for reading, XO
