This is perfect timing for your Saturday nights…

By Ilyssa Panitz,

Grab a cocktail, blast some music (I’m a Maroon 5 girl, myself) and break out the red lipstick.

It’s Saturday night – which means it’s time to get gussied up for a night on the town that even Adam Levine’s new model fiancé would appreciate (yes, we hate her). And, as a true New Yorker, when I say we are going out, I mean put away the boring corporate America attire and don’t show it to me again until Monday, OK?

This is the time to shed the suits and sensible shoes and work that weekend wardrobe to the max. Not sure where to start? You can never go wrong with a Little Black Dress. Personally, I’m a big fan of the LBD for many reasons: One, it’s slimming; two, you can wear it to a formal occasion or a casual dinner on the beach; and three, the sky’s the limit in terms of what you can do with accessories.

Ready for number four? Even a truly affordable LBD can look really expensive. In fact, with some thrifty shopping, use of a few coupon and free shipping codes and snagging Cash Back offers from, it’s easy to put together an entire outfit for $100 or less.

To start, set the tone by slipping into this adorable black dress from Nordstrom Rack that has just a dash of spice. And, priced at just $39.97, I call that a steal! Plus, when you’re a ShopAtHome member, you get 3 percent Cash Back on your Nordstrom Rack purchase. Nice, right?

Because the dress is fairly simple, we can now add our own embellishment at the neckline. I’m loving this “Insane Chain” neck collar by Tasha, also from Nordstrom Rack. Notice how it complements the lace sleeves of the dress, while at the same time draws attention to your beautiful face because of how the necklace falls? Fab. And, are you sitting down for this one? This sparkly bauble (that would also be killer with a simple white tank or T-shirt) is only $9.97. And that’s not even counting the Cash Back you’ll receive.

Now, on to the footwear. Believe it or not, your feet can look as fancy as Carrie Bradshaw’s without the exorbitant $900 Manolo Blahnik price tag.

For a mere $19.98, you can jazz up your legs with these funky Kate Young for Target flame detail high heels. Target also offers 3 percent Cash Back and you can find bunches of coupons and promo codes for the retailer through

Anyway, I particularly like the detail and design of this shoe because it really accents the foot. If you like to keep things sleek, get it in black. If you’re a little more daring, it comes in red. (I think I might need both – you never know!)

And, for the grand finale, you’re gonna need a bag. I have to warn you: I have an obsession with pocketbooks, so they are a must with any outfit.

Since no one wants to tote around a huge purse when a dance floor may be involved (admit it: you’re not going to just sit there when Moves Like Jagger comes on, now, are you?), I’m smitten with this studded wristlet from Charlotte Russe. I love that you can easily convert it from a clutch by attaching the strap, that it’s roomy enough to house your phone, lipstick and ID and – fist pump! — will only set you back $10. (Did I mention you get 3.5 percent Cash Back, too?)

The grand total for the entire outfit? A mere $80.

Now that you’re ready to stop traffic (go ahead, check your glam self out in the mirror a few times before you head out the door) in an outfit that cost less than a cover charge and cab fare, you can use your saved cash to buy your friends a round of drinks. Cheers!
